Flutter

Who can say?
I don’t know why
or what will come my way
oh you’ll never hear me say
That anyone’s bound by fate

So look into the water
As the water rushes on by
And the wind in the willows
Calls the sun down from the sky

I could just slip away
See where the story goes

Will this stay?
Or will it up and carry on its way?
oh lean in to watch it play
reflection shimmers away

Wingbeats brush against you
whisperin’ softly on your chest
and the rollin’ hillside murmuring
This heart just won’t get any rest

Let me just slip away
See where the story goes

It’s okay
From the path you are allowed to stray
heed the beckon of the day
No one can lay you claim

Tiptoe rustlin’ foxtail
Warmin’ the riverstones underfoot
And the flicker calls come tumbling in
from the bellflowers by the wood

Could I just slip away?
See where the story goes

I’ll let this roll by
Flutter and a sigh
Would it be alright?
To softly slip into the stream

I could just drift away
See where the story goes
